Apollo Development Kit Enables Users to Create with Conversational AI Capabilities

SmartCow's new audio-visual development kit is based on an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX module.

SmartCow, which specializes in video analytics and AIoT devices, has announced the launch of a new audio-visual development kit, Apollo. Focused on providing a dev kit for more than just beginner-level developers, Apollo is created to suit the needs of higher-level users by allowing them to implement conversational AI and NLP in applications.

Built around an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX, the Apollo kit features onboard visual and audio sensors, as well as a 128GB NVMe SSD for storage. Sensors include four microphones, two speaker terminals, two 3.5mm phone jacks, an 8MP camera module, and an OLED display. It also comes prepackaged with the NVIDIA DeepStream and RIVA Embedded SDK toolkits. SmartCow’s kit has unique natural language processing (NLP) capabilities, including its six NLP examples: text-independent speaker recognition systems, speech-to-text and sentiment analysis, language translations and speaker diarization, and applications for abnormal sound and surveillance.

The base frame is designed to allow Apollo to stand upright, and it supports two programmable buttons, a default button with one-key recovery and a programmable button to provide flexibility. SmartCow sees the inclusion of NLP in their development kits as essential for the growing technological needs of everyday life, and Apollo as a way to enable developers to build applications to transform that everyday life. Possible applications could be used in digital transformations of conference rooms, self-service counters, facility management, and more, as edge computing continues to revolutionize the way people work, live, and travel.
