Those of us that grew up playing the Nintendo Game Boy probably remember such drawbacks as its relatively bulky size, a cost of nearly 100 late 1980s dollars, and having to carry around cartridges if you wanted to play more than one game. Today though, using a Raspberry Pi Zero, Peter Barker, aka “moosepr,” was able to make his own system that can run multiple games (from different systems even) via RetroPie.

That’s interesting, but what sets his build apart from others is that the whole thing is about the size of an original Game Boy cartridge. Aside from the Pi, the custom PCB features a 2.2" ili9341 TFT display and a rechargeable battery.

Control is provided by two five-way navigation switches, and though it doesn’t have sound in the video, according to its project page, Barker has been able to add this in!
