If you want a very general forecast for the weather over the next four days, this Raspberry Pi project might be just the solution. It uses four 8x8 LED matrices from Adafruit to show the day’s weather in the form of icons, such as: sunny, stormy, show, or a frowny face icon for unknown weather.

Of course, this might not account for that half hour of rain when you happen to be outside during an otherwise sunny day, but it should still be useful for broad planning purposes.

The station runs on an original Pi Model A, though should work on subsequent versions as well. Setting it apart from many projects, it’s housed in a beautiful wooden enclosure with a glass panel in the front.
