A LEGO PlayStation 2 Case for Your Raspberry Pi
A hobbyist combined 3 of the best things ever — LEGOs, classic games, and a Raspberry Pi — to make this LEGO PlayStation 2-themed Pi case.
Electronics hobbyists tend to have Raspberry Pi computers hidden around every corner in their homes — one in the closet for a custom home automation system, one in the entertainment center for streaming media, and perhaps another in the garage for remotely granting access to their home. The minimalist, bare circuit board look of a Raspberry Pi is just fine when it is out of view. But when the computer takes a prominent position in one’s home, it is time to step it up with a case.
One of the more common use cases for a Raspberry Pi is as a retro gaming machine. They can emulate old game consoles with the best of them, but their style may not be exactly what you are looking for in a device that sits next to your TV. Fortunately, redditor imMoyko came up with the perfect solution for emulation setups — a PlayStation 2-themed case made entirely out of LEGOs. A Raspberry Pi, LEGOs, and classic video games?!? That’s like three of the best things ever!
The case looks great and fits the Raspberry Pi just right. It also leaves all of the ports exposed so you have total access to whatever you need. Ventilation looks pretty iffy, however, so there are no guarantees that you won’t melt something (or at least have the performance throttled down) when running more intensive applications.
There are no instructions available for the case at this time, but there are plenty of pictures taken from every angle. The design is not very elaborate, so it should not be too difficult at all to build your own by referencing those pictures. And the best part of all is that it won’t cost you a dime; you can build it with the bin of LEGO bricks you already own. Although if you did add a few LEDs to the build, it could take this case to another level entirely.
