A Bunch of Laserable Projects for the Holidays
Nolan from Thunder Laser has a bunch of free laserable projects that can help you out this holiday season.
The holidays are fast approaching and I’m betting there are at least a couple of people for whom you still need to find gifts. Even if you’re very responsible and already have all of those gifts sorted, have you considered wrapping? Don’t worry, Nolan from Thunder Laser has a bunch of projects that can help you out this season.
Thunder Laser makes several different laser engravers and cutters, including CO2, RF tube, and fiber lasers. Their products are cool, but we’re here to talk about the designs released by Nolan. They were created for Thunder Laser machines, but you should be able to make them using whatever machine you can access.
Nolan has published a whopping 132 projects on Instructables, so I’ll just talk about a few that could be particularly useful in the coming months.
For example, this project demonstrates how to engrave graphics onto a felt gift bag. It would also be great for stockings. The provided design is in DXF format and says “Merry Christmas.” For those celebrating other holidays, the guidelines would still apply for a different design.
This project and this project are for really nice, intricate wooden gift boxes. Once again, you can use the provided designs or follow along with your own design. Makercase and Boxes.py are online generators you can use to produce your own design files from parameterized templates.
If you need a gift to make, check out this heart-shaped puzzle, this dice tower, or this fingerprint love lamp.
Nolan has lots and lots of other projects to check out, so you can probably find something to suit whatever person you’re shopping for this holiday season.
