If you hate to keep score while playing ping pong and you don't want to use whiteboard or a piece of a paper, you can use this solution with LED strip and HARDWARIO IoT Kit.
1. Build hardwareYou will need Base Module,Power Module, Sensor Module and Core Module for this project.
You will plug them into each other in the order from Base Module(bottom) to Core Module (top).
Watch the video bellow for full preview of the project.
You can see how to build and use this device with your ping pong table.
You can see some older modules in the video, but that does not change it that much. Power module and Core module are almost the same.
The only change that is worth to be mentiont is the Sensor Module. On the picture down bellow you can see how to plug in two buttons into it. Or you can see the documentation for this module.
- Download HARDWARIO Playground.
- You can see documentation page on how to flash the firmware with HARDWARIO Playground.
- You will need the bcf-ping-pong-table firmware for this project.
Put the LED strip under your net and the buttons on each side of the table so both the players can press their score button.
4. Test it outTake your friend to your ping pong table and have a friendly game so you can see if it works just fine.
SummaryYou can expand this project by sending the score to the server thanks to HARDWARIO IoT Kit integration with Node-RED, maybe organize a tournament with your friends.
Have fun with this "smart" ping pong table.
