BSides Vancouver approached me late in 2018 to put together a badge for their March 18th-19th 2019 Event.
They wanted a badge that was all about Vancouver, BC so they shared with me a number of resources to help get a feel for Vancouver and to come up with an idea for a badge that would reflect the City.
So I chose to feature their fantastic "Circuit" logo and behind it feature the Vancouver City skyline and for good measure a hexadecimal background. On the flip side I chose to feature Vancouver's beautiful mountain scenery using a lined Halftone technique with the Silk Screen.
BSides Vancouver 2019 Badge Specs:
- White Silkscreen
- Purple Solder Mask
- ENIG (Gold) Copper Finish
- Dimensions: 91x61x1.6mm
As the BS Vancouver badge started to come together they asked me to put together a variation of the badge for their "Elite" attendees. For this variation I chose to keep the same design but change the color and highlight the design in a different way.
On this badge there is a large "ELITE" in the top right corner with gold letters and a White Background. The "BSides Vancouver" logo is featured in Gold and the Cityscape is brought to life with the white Silk Screen and a Gold border on the background buildings. The hexadecimal code rather than having an embossed look is now inset giving it an interesting feel and look.
The Elite Badge was a chance to demonstrate how the same design can be rendered differently with a different Solder Mask.
The back of the ELITE badge features the same mountain scenery as the regular badge in white silk screen. Initially I attempted to have it done in gold but there were communication issues with the fab so I had to adjust course to get the best possible image quality.
