An intelligent removable shield on the lids of food containers may be used for actively monitoring the food quality, freshness and quantity. Using the sensors available quantitative measures for an indicator response in a smart phone may be generated. The data from the sensors is collected through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. A set of visual indicators are used to show the readings of the sensors in a smart phone for detailed inferences.
The ambient light sensor may be used to identify if the lid is open or closed. This indicates if the food is currently stored or ready for consumption. The freshness of the food depends on the storage condition of the container. If the lid is open, then the freshness reduces.
The temperature sensor is used to keep a check on the hotness or chillness of the food in the container. The humidity changes indicated by the sensor indicates the quality and freshness of the food. Depending on the food item, both temperature and humidity show us how long the food can be served in its best quality. The quantity of the food may be monitored as the motion sensor keeps indicating the food removal. Temperature, humidity and motion sensors give data to check on any tampering of the food as well as the condition for serving.
Touch sensors may be used to identify if water droplets have formed in the lid. Food spilling or leak can be inferred from the above sensed data
