Using your CHIP board with a BOINC based project is easy and a fun way to test out your board. What is BOINC? You provide your CHIP board to supply processing time via the Internet to cure diseases, study global warming, discover pulsars, and do many other types of scientific research. My favorite project is Einstein@home out of the Univ. of Wisconsin - Milwaukee's Max Planck Institute. It uses your CHIP board to process weak astrophysical signals from spinning neutron stars (often called pulsars) using data from the LIGO gravitational-wave detectors. Just apt-get install boinc to add the Boinc manager to your CHIP and set up an account and select your favorite project.
My CHIP board arrived yesterday and I was able to have it running Boinc with Einstein@home in less than 10 minutes.
