This is so ridiculously easy that I kicked myself. Had to share it here, as it really is a timesaver.
- Get zip‐tie.
- Wrap around battery.
- Use pliers to easily pop them out of the casing without damaging the headers.
As a bonus:
- Solder some JST connectors on there.
- Write the polarity with a big felt tipped marker.
- Glue on some velcro to make it easy to pop the whole module off when you have to charge. *
* Do not attempt to charge the batteries while in a serial configuration. You *can* charge them in parallel with many generic charging boards, but you risk damaging the cells if they become imbalanced during this process.
