Devin Gaffney has a bit of a bone to pick with drivers in his Boston neighborhood. As shown in the video below, there is a stop sign that can be seen from the back of his house that “everyone runs.”

Rather than sit at his window and count all the vehicles that pass by without coming to a complete stop, he installed a webcam and Raspberry Pi to monitor movement and determine what is going on for him.

You can find stats on what his system has detected over on his website, and even help train the machine by voting on car presence as well as stop and wrong way violations. Code for this project is listed on GitHub if you’d like to implement a similar setup in your ‘hood.
