Ready to have yourself an engineery little Christmas? The team at Button sure is! The New York-based contextual commerce company recently channeled their inner Clark Griswold and took their holiday lights game to the next level by adding a SparkFun Pro Micro to make them illuminate in any pattern and color.

But that’s not all. Button then connected their teched-out tree to the Internet and configured it to monitor Twitter. Whenever someone mentions their handle, the tree lights up and displays the tweet on an LCD ‘ornament’ letting everyone in the office know someone is festively thinking about them.

You can read more about the team’s project here, and find its code on GitHub.
