This FitnessTracker iOS App which turns any MetaWear board into a pedometer. Your MetaWear device will behave as a motion tracker and will record your activity including calories burned and steps taken.
The code is fully open source so you are welcome to take it and make it your own.
The repository is available on Github here: https://github.com/mbientlab/FitnessTracker
The App is also available for download directly from the Apple App Store, simply search for ‘MetaTracker': https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/metatracker/id950768500?ls=1&mt=8
The App will prompt users to connect to a MetaWear board which the iOS device will retain in memory as a ‘paired device’. That means that if you happen to step away from your phone, your MetaWear will continue to behave as a fitness tracker. The MetaWear is completely independent once it is configured and will start logging your motion data.
Once a MetaWear device has been paired; you can hit the refresh button on the upper right corner of the App and see your data update live on your Smartphone. Steps are recorded each minute and displayed on the bar graph. If you swipe through the bar graph you can see the exact number of steps you took at each interval.
Internally the MetaWear is logging accelerometer data and saving it to memory. When you hit the refresh button, the App and MetaWear sync up and the accelerometer data is downloaded to the App. Data is processed and then activity is graphed.
