Introduction
MetaWear makes prototyping and production of smartphone connected wearables and accessories a snap. To prove it, we built a multi color mood lamp controlled by iPhone in 30 minutes.
Build Instructions
Step 1: Unbox MetaWear.
Open your MetaWear Kit and prepare to build!
Step 2: Attach the battery to the MetaWear board.
The battery included with the MetaWear kit will ship with wire leads instead of tabs. Solder the battery leads to the positive and negative battery header on the MetaWear board.
Step 3: Mount the MetaWear module in the globe light.
Twist open the globe light. Attach the MetaWear board inside of the light diffusing column. We used tape during our experiment, but for a more solid mounting option, consider using low temperature hot glue. Close the globe light.
Step 4: Create a simple iOS App or use the Sample MetaWear App
The MetaWear API includes functionality for setting the LED color on the board, as well as fading and flashing. For a quick implementation, start with the MetaWear sample app or download the API files on Github and include it in your project.
