About payleven, there is currently nothing left to write: according to Wikipedia, the startup in the mPOS (mobile point of sale) was taken over by SumUp.
However, I have found in my drawer still a debit card reader attachable to the smartphone. This became useless by the acquisition of SumUp and so I led my hand to the screwdriver and levered up the small plastic reader simply.
Two components appeared: the plug for the smartphone, which was soldered to the reader. The solder joint was covered with a kind of wax to protect the solder joint. An imprint on the reader was not recognizable despite the use of a magnifying glass.
Rather, the reader is again covered with thin sheet metal and riveted with 4 PINs.
My curiosity was limited and the protection of my fingernails was above the opening and so the chip used in the end remains with the company.
All in all, no matter how the market develops on such mPOS systems, you can only spend your budget once - even if marketing strategists say otherwise. So keep a cool head in the summer heat.
