Here are some quick and easy instructions for making some spooky yard torches. These torches are made up of stuff that you can find laying around your house, and they use electric tea lights so they are also fire safe.
Part OnePreparing the cardboard
1.
First, you will want to cut out a rough rectangle that is about 5 feet long and 6-8 inches wide.
2.
Next, you will want to crease the cardboard so that you can roll it into a long tube. If you are having trouble, try using a round object to roll it with.
3.
Now you will take your rolled up tube and lay the flaps over eachother for stapling. Here is where you need to have a p35S stapler. ONLY STAPLE IT 2/3's OF THE WAY UP!
4.
Now take your tube and go the 1/3 of it that has not been stapled and cut 1 1/2 inch wide strips to the end of it.
1.
Now you will need your hot glue gun, some scrap fabric and the tea lights.
2.
When your glue gun is ready, take it and put some glue on the side of the tea light and then stick it onto one of the strips. TIP: for easier use, put the glue on the side opposite of the switch.
3. Now get the scrap fabric out. Take it and tear it into strips about 2 inches across. Put glue on one end and glue it onto one of the cardboard strips. Wrap it loosely around the top 1/4 of the tube.
Now you are ready to paint! I used a green and a red spray paint, but you could substitute the green for a brown or some other dark color.
1.
First take the green and do a coat that is a little uneven so that you have a little texture effect.
2.
Now take your red paint and spray it for a whlie on each spot so that it pools and drips for a cool halloween effect. (This step is optional, don't do it if you don't want blood splattered on your torches)
So there you go! With these spooky torches, your house will be the place to be on Halloween!
