The Drift app brings friends to the the same place at the same time, allowing them to experience different paths as they "drift" to the destination in a city. One user creates an event, and the rest drift without knowing where they're going. On the journey, they will be notified on their watch whenever they are close to a famous place.
Phone Application
Divi picks up his phone and see the home screen of the Drift app. He sees a cool option which says "Explore" and goes and clicks on it
He is then prompted to select what kind of activity he wants to do with his friends. He then selects one category, in this case bar.
The bars in that geographic range are then found, and Divi can select one of these as the final destination. Divi then decides the bar he wants to visit by reading a little bit about the bar and finding the time and distance to reach this bar. In this case, he chooses Jupiter Bar on Shattuck.
Once the destination is picked, he chooses which curious friends to invite. He invites Brad Pitt and Jason Black to join him.
Lastly, the earliest possible arrival time is calculated based on the criteria of all the invited friends, and he can choose a time for everyone to meet.
Divi sets the drift time, and the drift begins! He can cancel the drift at any time, in which case his friends will be notified of the change. He can also control the features of the locality he wants to drift by using the Settings in the home screen.
Watch Application
Below we can see Brad's interaction with the watch throughout the drift. At first, if he is not currently in a drift, the application will be display the home screen. Once Divi creates the drift, Brad will get an invitation asking whether he wants to drift or not. Upon consent, the estimated arrival time will be displayed, as well as Brad can decline or accept the invitation. He will know the expected arrival time, which signifies how much time he has left along the way, rather than displaying it on the watch continuously. Once he accepts, the application will display the steps Brad needs to take to reach the destination Divi chose. There is nothing that Brad needs to do or click, rather the step will just change once he has completed the previous step. Every time there is a new instruction, the watch vibrates so he knows to look at it for further instructions. In addition to showing each step, Brad will also be notified if he passes by any of the features he has selected and wants to see. These notifications will only last a few seconds, and the current step will be shown again. The interaction with the watch is very minimal besides these notification like screens, because the focus should be on the surroundings during the drift. Lastly, once he arrives at the destination, he will finally be told what the location was!
