2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the Free Speech Movement. In honor of the occasion, the Free Speech Watch was born.
When you walk through Sproul Plaza, you learn of its significance to the Free Speech Movement by receiving a notification on your watch from one of the important figures of the movement.
After clicking on the card for the person who sent the draw request, you are taken to the drawing app for the Free Speech Watch. It has a minimalist design, focusing on the drawing canvas itself and the art that will be created.
Features of the drawing app:
- 9 colors, and each color expands upon being chosen
- Eraser, and eraser expands upon being chosen
- 3 sizes for the brush colors and eraser, notification appears when chosen
- Clear button to start new drawing, notification appears when drawing cleared
- Upload button to submit drawing to Flickr, feedback with photoID upon upload
- All buttons are spaced to provide extra room for larger fingers
After your drawing is uploaded to Flickr, you get a drawing sent in by a random member of the Free Speech Watch community in return!
The Free Speech Watch app utilizes the Flickrj API, Location API, Canvas API, and Toq API. It consists of three Activities, a main activity that connects the phone and the watch, a drawing activity that implements the drawing canvas and Flickr connection, and the Flickrj activity that uploads the drawing.
